Late at night, the house of Jadavpur organisational district BJP president Manoranjan Joddar was attacked with stones, creating panic among his family members. At the time of the incident, everyone in the house was asleep, including Manoranjan Babu himself. His wife and son, shaken by the sudden assault, are reportedly still terrified.
Manoranjan Joddar’s residence is located in the Chandmari area of Ward No. 11 under Sonarpur Municipality, within the jurisdiction of Rajpur Sonarpur police station. According to the complaint, unknown miscreants hurled stones at the house around midnight. The attack left visible marks, with stone dents on walls and shattered glass windows.
In a swift reaction, Manoranjan Babu immediately contacted Sonarpur police station and reported the matter. A formal written complaint was lodged the same night. Acting on the complaint, police have initiated an investigation but, so far, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The damage was not superficial. Several stones broke through windows and landed inside the house, with shards of glass and stones even reaching the bedroom where the family was resting. Fortunately, no one was physically harmed despite the severity of the attack.
Speaking about the incident, Manoranjan Babu alleged that it was a targeted attack meant to intimidate him and his family. The authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the locality and questioning locals to identify the culprits behind the midnight assault.
The stone-pelting has raised concerns about the safety of political figures in the area, especially in the tense atmosphere ahead of local events. Police have assured that security measures will be strengthened, and a thorough investigation will be carried out to ensure justice.
